refuse，decline，deny和reject的用法與區別

1。refuse意為“拒絕”，表示拒絕做某事或拒絕某種行為，後接不定式：refuse+ to do sth。

She

refused to

marry him。 她拒絕同他結婚。

2。decline表示婉轉的拒絕或謝絕，指“邀請，提議”等。

He

declined

the invitation because he was too busy。 因為太忙，他謝絕了那次邀請。

3。deny含義較廣，有“否認，不承認，拒絕，節制，戒絕”等含義。deny的常用結構有：

（1）deny+名詞（代詞）

He

denied

the book。 他否認這是他的書。

（2）deny+從句

He

denied that

he was wrong。 他否認他錯了。

（3）deny+doing sth。 =deny having done sth。

He

denied having

murdered the king。 他否認自己謀殺了國王。

（4）deny+間接賓語+直接賓語

deny sb。 sth。 =deny sth。 to sb。

the money to his parents。 =He

denied

his parents the money。 他拒絕給他父母錢。

（5）deny+賓語+不定式

He

denied this to be

the case。他否認這是事實。

（6）deny+oneself+名詞

He

denied himself

many comforts of life。 他捨棄了舒適的生活。

4。reject的含義更為強烈和堅決除有“拒絕”之意外，還表示“駁回，拋棄，否定，剔除”等。

The chairman

rejected

the proposal。 主席否決了那項提議。

The girl was

rejected

by her parents。 那個女孩被她的父母拋棄了。
