這首歌的歌詞是由吉米·肯尼迪於1932年創作的。這首歌很受歡迎，很快孩子們就在幼兒園、學校和夏令營裡唱起了這首歌。它的受歡迎程度從未減退，今天它仍然像以前一樣受歡迎。

這首歌，曲調輕鬆歡快，歌詞輕鬆愉快，唱起來很開心，也難怪孩子們喜歡。

需要注意的是，並非這裡的每一個詞都需要掌握，比如gad，這是相對比較生僻、不常用的一個詞，指的是“閒逛、遊蕩、找樂子”，我們無需關注。

這裡有一句歌詞：There’s lots of marvellous things to eat。這句話裡，there be結構的be用了單數，但是後面的things卻是複數。對於這一點，章振邦《新編高階英語語法》裡有說明：

現代英語的存在句，尤其是在口語中，確實有個強烈的趨勢，要求動詞與左邊的there保持一致，採用單數，儘管它右邊的名詞片語是複數。
